Lynx updates itself — this is what changed, in plain words.

The browser extension catches downloads
- Big file downloads go to Lynx automatically, with one click to keep one in the browser
- Starts Lynx in the background when it isn’t running
- Every quality, audio only and Clip from the pill’s ⋯ menu
The extension now works like you’d expect from a download manager: large files you download in Chrome, Edge, Brave or Arc are handed to Lynx, which splits them into parts and resumes them after a drop. Files that need your sign-in keep working, and links that only work once are left with the browser.
Clicking the pill or the popup no longer needs Lynx to be open — the extension starts it quietly in the background.
The popup is new too: the page you’re on as a card with Download, Clip and Audio, your recent downloads with progress, and switches for the pill and for catching downloads.

The first release of Lynx as a desktop app. Downloads now happen on your computer, over your own connection — nothing passes through our servers.
Downloading. Every quality the site offers is listed with its real size. Lynx prefers H.264 at the quality you choose, so files open everywhere, and it never quietly gives you a lower quality than you picked. Playlists open as a list you can choose from; several links pasted together open as one batch.
Clips. Switch any card to Clip: drag the range, pick video, vertical, square, GIF or audio, and save. Lynx cuts from your own file when you already have the video, reuses the source for repeat clips, and asks for only your part of long videos.
Keeps working. The download engine updates itself every day and retries a failed download once after updating.

Lynx Notch turns the space around your MacBook’s camera into a live island for downloads, copied links, music and a file shelf.
This version was rebuilt for smoothness. In our measurements, with music playing and the island closed, CPU use dropped from 7.1% to 0.4% of one core, and every animation we scripted ran without a single late frame.
The island now swells the moment your pointer arrives and opens once it settles — so it never pops open when you’re just heading for the menu bar. Content grows with the island instead of appearing outside it, and Macs without a notch get the same island at the top-center of the screen.
