Download a clip

Open Clip

Paste a link into Lynx and switch the card from Download to Clip. You can also press ⌘K, click ✂ on a row, choose Download a Clip… from a row’s right-click menu, use Clip in the browser extension, or Clip in Lynx Notch — they all open the same card.

Pick the part

• Drag the two green handles on the timeline, or type the start and end times (to a tenth of a second).
• Play the video and press Start or End to set the range at the playhead.
• To save more than one part from the same video, choose Add Another Part.

Pick a shape and save

Choose Video, Vertical, Square, GIF or Audio (what each one does), then press Download Clip or Return. The clip appears in Clips.

Why it’s quick

Lynx fetches only what it needs. If you already downloaded the video, it cuts from your file. If you cut from the same video again, it reuses what it fetched last time. For videos over 10 minutes it asks the site for just your part. Short videos are fetched once.

In our test, a 35-second clip from a 10-minute 1080p film took 11 MB and 29 seconds — the whole film is 255 MB.

Free clips can be up to 1 minute; Pro removes the limit.
