Add the browser extension

Install

1. Open Lynx and go to Settings › Browser.
2. Under Your browsers, choose Add to Chrome (or Brave, Edge, Arc).
3. Lynx opens a small guide that shows the one step your browser needs. Follow it — usually turning on Developer mode on the browser’s Extensions page and dragging the Lynx tile onto that page.

The extension pairs with Lynx by itself — no code to type, nothing to approve. When it’s connected, Settings › Browser shows it under Connected browsers.

Firefox and Safari versions are on the way.

Use it

• On a video page, a small pill appears over the player: Download · 1080p. Click it to send the video to Lynx. The ⋯ menu has other qualities, audio only and Clip.
• Big file downloads are caught automatically and handed to Lynx, which splits them into parts and resumes them if the connection drops. The popup shows the file and offers Download in Browser Instead if you’d rather keep it there. Small files are always left to the browser.
• Lynx doesn’t need to be open. The extension starts it in the background.

Turn things off

Click the Lynx icon in the toolbar. At the bottom of the popup you can hide the pill or stop catching downloads from that browser.
