Speed, parts per file and speed limits
How Lynx makes big downloads fast, and how to slow it down when you need your connection.
Parts per file
For direct file downloads — installers, archives, disk images — Lynx splits the file into parts and fetches them in parallel, up to 16 connections at a time. On most servers that’s much faster than a browser. If a download is interrupted, it resumes where it stopped.
Set it in Settings › Downloads › Parts per file. If a server is picky and downloads fail, try fewer parts.
Speed limit
On a video call or sharing the connection? Set Settings › Downloads › Speed limit — from 1 MB/s up to 50 MB/s, or no limit.
Downloads at the same time
Settings › Downloads › Downloads at the same time decides how many run together. The rest wait in line.
