Meet Lynx Notch — your downloads, right in the notch

Most of the time, the notch on a MacBook is just black space around a camera. We thought it could do a little more.
Lynx Notch is part of Lynx for Mac. It shows what’s happening in Lynx right where your eyes already go — and stays out of the way the rest of the time.
What it does
Downloads at a glance. When something is downloading, a thumbnail and a progress ring appear on either side of the camera. Rest your pointer on the notch and it opens: speed, time left, pause and stop.
Copied links, ready to go. Copy a video link anywhere — a message, a document, a browser — and the notch shows what it is, with Download, MP3 and Clip. You don’t have to open Lynx.
Music. Whatever is playing on your Mac shows its artwork and a live visualizer tinted to match, with play, skip and a scrubber.
A shelf. Drop files on the notch to keep them handy, and drag them out into any app later. Drag a link onto the notch to download it.
Made to feel instant
We rebuilt the island to feel like part of macOS. It swells the moment your pointer arrives and opens once the pointer settles — so it never pops open when you’re just heading for the menu bar. Everything grows out of the notch, and nothing is ever drawn outside it.
It’s also light. With music playing and the island closed, it uses about 0.4% of one CPU core in our measurements.
Get it
Lynx Notch is built into Lynx for Mac and needs macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Turn it on in Settings › Notch. On a Mac without a notch, it appears at the top-center of the screen.
